DevBot 2.0 LIDAR maps Goodwood Hillclimb | Roborace

One of the sensors Roborace has on offer on DevBot 2.0 is LIDAR, a laser-based perception system that works alongside the GPS system in mapping the road ahead. This overlay shown was instrumental in how we set the first official autonomous hillclimb time at Goodwood Festival of Speed 2019. #ThisIsRoborace#AutonomousVehicles #LIDAR

The green icons is what the car sees as it climbs the hill. The central black arrow is where the car wants to be. The small white arrows in front of the black arrow are all possible projected path positions the car will travel into. LIDAR will then combine with the cars other sensors to make decisions.

Localisation Challenge | Season Alpha | Roborace

The next stop for Season Alpha takes us to Zala Zone automotive proving ground in Hungary where we performance test Localisation. Team Arrival, Technical University Graz and University of Pisa competed in the localisation challenge for a solid week of testing resulting in surprisingly close competition amongst the three teams. #SeasonAlpha #ZalaZone #LIDAR

After three days of testing, it was decided that Pisa and Graz utilized the Roborace base layer in order to accelerate the development of their AI. Stay tuned for for future episodes.

In preparation for our #SeasonAlpha autonomous Localisation Challenge we had our safety driver situated in DevBot 2.0 for three laps around a predetermined track. Our #Roborace driver was only instructed to take control of the wheel in case of a problem. #AutonomousVehicles

This is the LIDAR vision from our Season Alpha event in Zala Zone, Hungary where three teams, Arrival, TU Graz and University of Pisa, competed in a localisation challenge using LIDAR, IMU and Wheel Speed Sensors.

The Final OBSTACLE AVOIDANCE Test |

Facing various weather conditions, the aim was for the AI to perform a manoeuvre around an object, or to stop in front of the object, at high speed.
