Fulvio Benazzoli has developed this very clean looking Impreza GC8 Coupé to compete on the E1-3000+ Class and 2018 marked the first year where we could see this Boxer powered Monster in action in its latest Evolution.

With around 450Hp produced by the 2.0L Turbocharged Boxer engine, it still maintain the unequal lenght haders setup which makes the sound as "Classic Subaru" as it gets.

Dejan Kopajtic´s unique Zastava Yugo is even more evolved on 2018 and features even more extreme bodywork changes alongside the spectacular mechanical changes performed on it to become one of the fastest 1.6L machines in the Croatian Hillclimb Championship.

Powered by the 1.6L Naturally Aspirated engine taken from the FIAT Bravo, here with 220Hp/9.000Rpm, the diminutive hatchback benefits from its ow weight of 725Kg to become a devastantingly quick Pocket Rocket. With all this power transferred to the front wheels through a 6 speed Sadev sequential Gearbox, beating Class records like it did on Buzet Hillclimb vecmoes certainly a possibility. Rico Hofstetter drives this beautifully finished Mazda MX-5 NB on the Swiss Hillclimb Championship. Converted into a Coupé in order to have the maximum Structural rigidity possible, it is powered by the 2000cc Naturally Aspirated Mazda powerplant, here tuned up to 220Hp/9.000Rpm.

Having this kind of power moving only around 900Kg makes this machine a very agile thing capable of posting very competitive times. And among the fastest on the 2000cc Class where it competes.

Alex de Vries has evolved his quite unique Citroen 2CV that we have already shown on our Channel one year ago, and now it features the same BMW GS1200 Engine, but with the addition of a Rotrex Supercharged among some ohter goodies.

Now with 154Hp moving the lightweight Classic (only 660Kg), it becomes a far quicker machine that is only being left a bit behind by the Gearbox which is largely stock and made originally to cope with...28Hp ( !!??)

This is the mighty powerful Lancer Evo IX of Domagoj Perekovic, one of the most powerful Lancer Evolution models in all of Hillclimb Racing and the product of almost a decade of development.

Here you can see the THP tuned Monster attacking Buzet Hillclimb both from inside and outside to check how crazy this 4G63 engined highly turbocharged 820Hp Monster is when in action. Placing in the podium among the Fastest Touring Cars present despite some gearbox issues, it is a terrifying machine that will see further development next year to take things into a whole new level.

When that is said about a machine that currently boast numbers as impressive as 820Hp/1200Kg, it´s because something rather special is coming....

This is Joel Werthmuller´s hatchback Monster, a 1.6L Naturally Aspirated Peugeot 106 prepared for both Slalom and Hillclimb Racing and one of the faster E1-1600 Class Cars on the Swiss HillClimb Championship. Using plenty of bespoke bodywork parts and lightened to around 800Kg of weight, this machine takes the Iconic Hot Hatch from PEugeot to new levels.

This is the 2018 version of the Alfa Romeo 4C Proto by Picchio SPA, now driven by Alessandro Gabrielli, and powered by a 2.0L Turbocharged Engine by AER (Advanced Engine Research) producing 550Hp in its current state of tune.

One of the most ambitious HillClimb Racing projects ever in the Italy, this 890Kg carbon fribre bodied Monster designed and built by Picchio SPA, was stored for almost a year before Gabrielli Motorsport took the challenge of continuing its development and it has paid off with the car showing very promising results, scoring various Class Wins and ranking among the fastest Touring Cars in pretty much all events it entered.

Entering on the FIA HillClimb Masters as part of the Italian Team and while it showed great pace, some mechanical problems prevented a better final result. But as unique as this Monster is, we could not pass the opportunity to show it to all our Followers, both inside and outside.

Famous Italian Rally Driver Claudio De Cecco was given the opportunity in the last Cividale Castelmonte Hillclimb to debut the new Hyundai i30 N TCR on HillClimb Racing. The FWD, 340Hp/1200Kg Race Car was given its baptism of fire on a very technical course but still was able to post some impressive times and placing sixth in the most competitive Class, E1-3000+.

This Korean Touring Car is powered by a 2.0L Turbocharged Egnine and makes use f such goodies as a paddle.shift operated X-trac 6-speed sequential gearbox, four-piston calipers, 380 mm steel ventilated discs on the front axle and two-piston calìipers, 278 mm steel discs for rear brakes. McPherson strut Suspension in the front and 4 arm Multi-link axle in the back makes for a very composed machine as it can be seen on the video and on the very first races this machine as participated in.

Michael Kuster drives this beautiful Alfa Romeo Sprint on the Swiss Hillclimb Championship, properly tuned to battle much more more modern machinery in the E1-1600 Class. With its 1.6L Boxer Engine in Naturally Aspirated form producing over 240Hp at a frenetic 9.500Rpm, this FWD Classic is certainly one of the most melodic machines in Hillclimb Racing coupling the beautiful high-revving soundtrack with Iconic looks, sporting the Classic Martini Racing livery.

This is Massimo Guerra´s latest Hillclimb Weapon , the incredibly rare (only around 50 were built between 1966 and 1968) Ginetta G12 in 1600cc Twin Carburettor Spec. Raced in Cividale Castelmonte and almost winning the Historic portion of the event (only mechanical problems on the last runs prevented him from taking victory) this machine benefits from its mid-engined layout coupled with its very low weight of 580Kg thanks to its multi-tubular space frame clothed in a lightweight fiberglass body.

It is powered by a Lotus twin-cam 1600cc engine breathing through twin Weber carburetors with the engine mated to a Hewland 5-speed transaxle sending the power to the rear wheels. In the front, the suspension was comprised of double wishbones with coil over shocks. The rear had double radius arms, upper transverse links, coil-over shocks, and lower wishbones. Girling disc brakes could be found on all four corners.

A piece of British Racing History and ingenuity that thankfully we can still see today being properly driven on the Italian Hills thanks to Mr. Guerra. This is Andreas Kokor exquisite Ford Escort Mk1 Zakspeed Monster and it is one of the most beautiful and most well built Hillclimb machines in Europe. Starting life as an Escort Mk1 RS2000, the machine you can see here is nowadays the product of years of development and care.

Powered by a Naturally Aspirated Cosworth YB engine unit here capable of 280Hp/9.300Rpm, this RWD Classic benefits from its low weight (under 900Kg) to be properly quick. Adding to that the fantastic Castrol livery as used by the Zakspeed cars during the 70´s and the final result is a fantastic looking,sounding, fast machine.

Grzegorz Duda continued racing and developing his unique Hyundai i20 WRC Proto in 2018. Much faster this year, this Monster is now producing 730Hp/860 from its 2.0L Turbocharged engine, making the 1200Kg, AWD Monster quite the fast machine.

Here it can be seen at Lucine HillClimb, where it faced one of its greater challenges of the year by facing some of the Top names of European Hillclimbing. Still, it was among the fastest Touring Cars present and was able to keep up with ProSpeed´s 770Hp Quattro S1, Bubnic´s 700+Hp Delta Integrale and Bratschi´s 700+Hp Lancer Evo to name a few...

Important to note also that this Monster is now up for sale, so anyone interested in experiencing a machine capable of sprinting from 0-100Km/h in around 2 seconds, this is your opportunity...

Every Two Years and on a different location, there´s the biggest celebration of European HillClimb Racing with the FIA HillClimb Masters and with it a very large number of the greatest Monsters in the sport is gathered to battle for victory. This year , the event was held in Gubbio, Italy in its beautiful local HillClimb.

In the end these were the 10 fastest Monsters of the weekend, with some potential winners not being able to finish the event and some missing out very narrowly. But those surely will have their place on our Channel in th near future too. For now, let´s watch those who placed among the very Top against some of the most fierce competition any event this year could have.

This incredibly clean Chevette belongs to Alasdair Stables and was built and tuned by RetroPower, the restoration experts from England that are also building a Ford Escort Mk1 for a certain Gordon Murray...

Present at Retro Rides Gathering 2018, this Chevette is built to emulate the Group 4 Rally Car in looks and spirit but features many modern solutions that bring it up to par to comtemporary performance. Now powered by a Red-Top 2.3L C20XE engine producing 280Hp/8.000Rpm and weighing under a tonne, this RWD hatchback is converted into a true Tarmac-spec Rally Monster.

Dawie Joubert placed 3rd Fastest on the last Knynsa Speed Festival´s Simola Hillclimb at the wheel of his brutal spaceframed Lotus Exige powered by a turbocharged Honda K24 Engine.

In the end, only some engine problems prevented this 700+Hp (power value is variable depending on boost setting used) Monster from winning the Modified Saloon Class outright. Aided by its very low weight of little over 800Kg, this is a tremendously fast machine that will be fighting next for Top Honours again and for the All Time Record in its class.

The winner of the 1600cc Class in the Cividale-Castelmonte Hillclimb 2018 was Chrisitan Schneider at the wheel of his spectacular Peugeot 205 RS16 in its second evolution. This specially tuned version of the French 80´s hatchback inaturally aspirated and produces 225Hp/9.000Rpm to move only 750Kg of weight.

Although not being used on the full 2018 season, in every round it apppeared it fought for victory in its Class amrking itself as one of the fastest 1600cc Hillclimb cars in Europe.

Antonis Christou and Stavros Antoniou continued the development of this unique Twin-Charged Mitsubishi Colt, using the drivetrain from a Lancer Evolution. Powered by a 4G63 engine now using both a Turbocharger and Supercharger, this Monster placed 3rd overall on the most Iconic Hillclimb event of the year in Cyprus, Platres Anavasi.

From its bespoke bodywork combining the Mitsubishi Colt frame with many Lancer Evo VI panels, to its unique engine setup and now going even further with the use of a Paddle Shift operated gearbox, this Monster has see some very serious development thorugh the last year as it prepares to fight for the Cyprus HillClimb Champion title in 2019.

This is the incredibly nice looking MGB GT driven and developed through the years by Brian Browning and Allen Reid at the Canadian Knox Mountain HillClimb. Tubeframed and powered by a dry-sumped 4.6L V8 engine using a Rover block, this is a naturally Aspirated 450Hp Monster weighing just 1020Kg.

One of the fastest machines in the last decade on the Canadian venue, it has won the race n multiple occasions and still today is a competitive car as a final 4th Place in the 2018 edition can attest.

This absolutely beautiful Lancia Stratos HF V6 is raced by Silvio Andrighetti on the Historic HillClimb Championship. The 2.4L Naturally Aspirated Rally Legend from the 70´s is still a very capable machine with over 250Hp moving just 880Kg. The mid-engined, two seater layout certainly helps on that while also making the Rear Wheel Drive machine quite tricky to drive.

Above all it is a tremendously charismatic machine that even when not raced at ten/tenths ,is still a mesmerizing object to behold given its incredible looks and sound. The fact that such a machine is still raced nowadays in proper fashion, like we can see here on the last edition of Cividale-Castelmonte Hillclimb, is something we can only applaud.
