U Spy An Odd Looking Dodge Charger And Challenger

BY MICHAEL GAUTHIER | MAY 18, 2018

An assortment of different vehicles from Fiat Chrysler Automobiles have been spotted in Colorado by Carscoops reader Brett Borgard.

In remains unclear what they were doing in the state but most of them look relatively stock except for the addition of charging lugs and recovery hooks. However, the most notable changes can be seen on the Charger and Challenger as they are equipped with an exhaust system with tips that extend far beyond the rear bumper. This could suggest the company is planning some performance upgrades but nothing is official as of yet.

While Dodge hasn’t go into details, the brand has already confirmed the Charger is “doubling down with upgrades inside and out for the 2019 model year.” Additional information will be released this summer but the company has confirmed high-performance variants – including the Charger SRT Hellcat – will feature an all-new grille.

The Challenger in also due for some upgrades as Dodge recently revealed the 2019 Challenger SRT Hellcat will have a fully functional dual-snorkel hood. The company has said the hood “looks even more sinister” and provides additional air to the car’s supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine.

Besides the cars, there were both new and old versions of the Ram 1500. The new truck appears to be a Laramie variant that features black wheels with off-road tires.

The group of vehicles also included a Jeep Renegade. While the photos don’t reveal much, the model is due for a minor facelift. Previous spy photos have shown the updated Renegade will have a new front bumper, a modestly revised grille and LED headlights that mimic those on the 2018 Wrangler.

The interior isn’t expect to change much as the model recently received updated fabrics, additional storage compartments and a revised Selec-Terrain shifter.

Facelifted 2019 Renegade Aiming To Boost Jeep’s Sales Next Year

BY MICHAEL KARKAFIRIS | MAY 25, 2018

Jeep continues the development of the facelifted Renegade, with our spotting a camouflaged test car parked next to the current model.

The automaker hopes that the influx of new as well as refreshed models in Europe will boost its sales in the region and help them benefit from the current SUV trend. Jeep is planning to launch the facelifted Renegade, the revised Cherokee towards the end of the year in Europe, before the two new models be joined shortly after by the all-new Wrangler.

As for the updated Renegade, Jeep plans to give it a redesigned front end that includes a new grille, new lighting signature and new fog lights, as well as a new rear bumper along with refreshed taillights.

The new exterior styling is expected to draw inspiration from the company’s latest models, including the Wrangler and the Cherokee. The headlights are expected to be LED units that mimic the design of those in the Wrangler while the new front bumper will have its fog lights repositioned.

The interior of the smallest Jeep available is expected to remain pretty much unchanged, given that the company only recently updated the Renegade’s cabin with new seat fabrics, bezel treatments, a pair of new storage compartments and a revised Selec-Terrain shifter.

The updated 2019 Jeep Renegade is expected to offer the company’s latest driver assistance systems, as well as smaller revisions to its off-road arsenal. We still don’t know if Jeep plans to make any changes to the Renegade’s engine range, which currently includes a turbocharged 160hp 1.4-liter and a bigger 180hp 2.4-liter unit.

The facelifted Jeep Renegade is expected to break cover towards the end of the year as a 2019MY, with sales to begin shortly after.
