When I hit the accelerator in 5 and 6 gear the clutch slips and the revs go through the roof. It's been suggested that I need to replace the clutch at a mind blowing cost of €1675 but as I can rev up a 10º hill near me in first, second and third without the clutch slipping I'm not convinced I need to replace the clutch. Is there a computer glitch that disables the clutch although how it would do it beats me.

Me parece un poco caro, supongo que en ese cambio irán más cosas como bimasa y recambios varios, pero aún así no se yo. Hace mucho que no cambio un embrague y no se como está el patio con esto pero 1675€... pediría otro presupuesto en otro taller si tienes posibilidad y si tienes dudas aún con más justificación.
Es el embrague, se lo acabo de cambiar a mi Giulietta con 190.000 kms; el coche tenía los mismos síntomas: en 5ª y 6ª, al pisarle fuerte patinaba el embrague. El embrague salió desgastado pero aún con un mínimo material de fricción y el collarín de embrague tocado. El precio es muy caro a ver si también te quieren cambiar el bimasa.
No hay de qué, pero mira, como te ha dicho sass, en otro taller, porque cambiar el embrague, salvo que sea un cambio TCT, no tiene que ser tan caro, como mucho unos 600.-€.
